Cheese Tortellini... There are so many things you can make with that one simple pasta. You can add different sauces, different meats, you can even add different vegetables. The man of the house loves his pasta. It doesn't matter what kind of pasta, what kind of sauce...he just loves it all.
For tonight's dinner, I chose one of our favorites. Cheese Tortellini, however I chose to mix it up a bit. Usually its a chicken alfredo dish. Tonight, I made my own sauce. A garlic butter sauce with parmesan cheese.
First, I made the pasta. We love the nock off brand frozen tortellini. It cooks in just 3 minutes when added to boiling water. Drained and thrown back in to the pan. I added in the butter, garlic, onion powder, parsley and parmesan cheese. Once the butter melted and everything was nicely coated, I removed the pan from the heat.
In another skillet, I heated up a drizzle of olive oil. I had two steaks seasoned with salt and pepper. I seared them to a nice crisp on the outside. I removed them from the skillet and let them rest on the cutting board. After about a 5 minute rest I sliced the steaks into thin strips.
While the steaks were cooking, I threw a bag of frozen broccoli into the microwave to steam. Everything came together so well. I tossed the broccoli with the pasta. Then plated adding the steak to the top and sprinkling just a pinch of cheese on top.
This dish was wonderful and different. It paired well with an evening drink and a good movie. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
