Sheppards Pie. Cottage Pie. Whatever you call it, one things is for sure. The layers of meat, potatoes, and cheese is something for the best comfort days.
Everyone makes theirs different.
Even in my house, there’s two versions. His..and mine!
I love the traditional tomato base meat mixture with peas and carrots. Piled high with mashed potatoes and melty cheese.
He does not like the peas and carrots.
So, this is His version.
I used a pound of ground beef, browned and drained. Seasoned with pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
I stirred in some tomato juice and Worcester sauce and brought it to a simmer.
Once the meat mixture was done, I added it to my favorite baking dish.
I piled high the mashed potatoes and smoothed across the top. Then spread out a handful of mild cheddar cheese.
Popped it right into the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes.
This was so so good and so so comforting. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
